This week has been a great week and I loved every second of
it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On tuesday we went tracting in this
apartment complex across the street from the high school and we met
this really nice guy that just got out of jail the day
before!!!!!!!!!! He invited us inside and we got to teach him about
the Book of Mormon and about Joseph Smith and about prophets and he
was really interested!!!!!!!!!!! He asked some great questions and he
wants us to come back over next week and Im excited for that!!!!!!!!!!
We also got to talk a lot to his next door neighbor!!!!!!!!!!!!! She
used to have missionaries come over to her house about ten years ago
except she said they would just come over and hang out!!!!!!!!!!!!! I
told her that we would be happy to come over and teach her but not to
just hang out!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elder Tuma doesnt go over to anyones house
to hang out!!!!!!!!!!! Im on the Lords time!!!!!!!!!!! She told us she
wants us to also teach her daughter when we come back over this week
to teach her neighbor so that will be exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wednesday
was a very interesting day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went on exchanges with
Elder Nunez which was really good!!!!!!!!! I went over to his area
which is my area also except just spanish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We went to go
visit some people which was fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since being here in
Carrollton my spanish from high school has come back!!!!!!!!!!! I can
understand about 80% of the conversations and i can read spanish, i
just cant speak haha. I know that its the spirit helping me
out!!!!!!!!!! We got to have dinner and then afterwards I was supposed
to have an interview with his investigator for baptism!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But when the investigator met us at the church, Elder Nunez got a call
from one of the members in the Sunbeck branch and they said that they
had a friend at Parklind hospital that needed a blessing!!!!!!!!!!!
Well Parklind is all the way in downtown dallas and it was about 7:30
at night already!!!!!!!!!!!! We got permission to go over there and of
course I was freaking out because I didnt think we were going to make
it back in time!!!!!!!!!!!! Well we got to the hospital and when we
were walking through the hallway to find the room, this man came
running out of a room to talk to us and tell us his wife needed a
blessing!!!!!!!!!!! So we went in there and gave her a blessing and
then we got back out to the hallway and this nurse came up to us and
told us that he wants missionaries to come over to his house!!!!!!!!!
So we gave him the information so he could get in contact with the
missionaries where he lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we finally got to the
room and it was already nine o clock!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we gave her the
blessing, she wasnt a member, she was catholic, i gave the blessing in
spanish which was really cool!!!!!!!!!! Then we rushed back to the car
(Juan, the one who was supposed to get interviewed, took us to the
hospital) and we didnt leave the hospital until 9:30 and I was already
starting to hyperventilate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we got back to the
church and it was like 9:50 and we still had to ride our bikes back
home and we didnt get home until 10:15 and i was so stressed out and I
was freaking out!!!!!!!!!! I called President Durrant the next morning
and he told me that I have no reason to feel horrible about
it!!!!!!!!!!! He helped me a lot!!!!!!!!! Then on thursday we had
planning and we got to meet with Marcus and he is doing
great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On friday we met with Brother Karlovich and he is
doing great, he even came to church on Sunday which was really
exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!! And then on friday night we got to meet with the
Morenos and the Robledos!!!!!!!!!!! Sister Robledo and her son is
getting baptized in two weeks, i am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is
going to be so exciting to see a mom and a son get baptized together,
the spirit is going to be so strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then saturday was a
very special day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was Dominiques baptism!!!!!!!!!!!
Elder Byington and I knocked on his door a couple months ago and we
got to teach him a lesson and then we handed him over to the YSA
missionaries since he is 21!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to serve in a YSA ward
so badly!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love teaching people that age!!!!!!!!!!!! He
baptism was so great!!!!!!!!! He was so happy and the spirit was so
strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then afterwards we took the DART down to
farmers branch and we went tracting around there and got to talk to
some great people!!!!!!!!!!! Sister Moreno and Sister Robledo came to
bring us drinks which was really cool!!!!!!!!!!! They got me horchata,
they knew it was my favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sunday was a really good
day!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to talk to some really great people and the
week ended great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This week was very good and we are
seeing so many miracles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so thankful for
this opportunity that I get to be a
missionary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I

Oh boy was this week crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So on tuesday we had
district meeting in the morning which went really well!!!!!!!!!!!!! I
trained on how we can listen better to people and how we can discern
the needs of our investigators so that we can try to help
them!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then aftwerwards we did some tracting so we can try
and find some people that are ready to be taught!!!!!!!!!! Then we had
dinner with Phetsavanhs!!!!!!!!!! I love eating at their house because
they are from Laos and they make really really good asian
food!!!!!!!!!!! We are working on getting them to the temple so they
can be sealed!!!!!!!!! They got baptized about 6 or 7 years
ago!!!!!!!!!! Then afterwards we had a lesson with Gaby over at the
Ryans house which went great!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to teach her the
gospel of Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love teaching that lesson
because the gospel of Jesus Christ is really so simple!!!!!!!!!! If we
have faith in him, repent, get baptized, receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost, and endure to the end; we are promised that we will have
eternal life!!!!!!!!!!!!! She really took if well and we have decided
that we think its her parents that are holding her back!!!!!!!! We all
know she is really to be baptized, she just needs to recognize the
spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wednesday was a great day!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to go
on exchanges with the zone leaders so Elder Smith came to my area for
the day!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a great afternoon of tracting and
contacting people!!!!!!!! We even found a family that was interested
in learning more and told us to come back that night!!!!!!!!!!!! Then
we had dinner with Emilyn and we got to teach her a new member lesson
after dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we went back over to that families
house and the mom answered the door and told us that they werent
interested anymore!!!!!!!!! I dont know what happened but i was so
sad!!!!!!!!!! We still left a pamphlet with them and put our phone
number on the back and told them to call us if they ever would like us
to come back over!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll probably stop by again in a week
or two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I had to go drop off a thank you card at
the Aguilars for my surprise party the week before so we went and saw
them and drove the sunbeck elders to their apartment and then we got
back home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then on thursday morning we had studies and
then we exchanged back!!!!!!!!!!! We planned during the day and then
we had a lesson with Marcus in the afternoon and then we had dinner at
the spanish familys house with the sunbeck elders!!!!!!!!!!! On friday
we got a call from the assistants saying that there was an elder in
Pleasant Grove that hurt his leg so they had to take our car and let
him have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So on friday they came over and took the car
away and now we are back on bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love being on a bike
but it is starting to get hot outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to teach

great!!!!!!!!!!!!! We taught about the law of tithing and the word of
wisdom!!!!!!!!!!!!! It went really well!!!!!!!!!!!! I love teaching

an activity at the chapel with the sunbeck spanish branch!!!!!!!!!! We
got to invite our investigators and there was soccer and volleyball
and a bunch of food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was really cool and all the
investigators had a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have gotten a lot
better at spanish!!!!!!!!!!! I can basically understand and read
everything, im just not very good at speaking it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But its
ok, im an egnlish missionary so i dont need to worry about speaking
it!!!!!!!!!! Yesterday was a great day at church!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was
ward conference in the first ward so we got to hear from our stake
leaders which was really good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then at night we had
another new member lesson with Emilyn which went great!!!!!!!!!!!! We
got to teach the word of wisdom again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some really cool
things I found out this week is that one of my investigators that I
taught a lot in my last area is getting baptized this saturday and I
might be able to go!!!!!!!!!!!! Also a guy that Elder Byington and I
tracted into about three months ago is getting baptized this
saturday!!!!!!!!! We didnt get to teach him because he is 21 so we
gave him to the YSA elders but I am so excited for his
baptism!!!!!!!!! We got to teach him about the book of mormon when we

Well this week was such a great
week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its good having a car
because we are able to get to places so easily but it also means that
we have to drive the spanish missionaries everywhere and drop them off
at places because their area is so huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tuesday was such a fun and scary day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the morning
we had a meeting with our zone and then afterwards we all got lunch
which was a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we went to go drop the
spanish elders off at their apartment but it started to get really
dark outside and really windy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then all of the
sudden the tornado sirens started going off and it started to rain
really bad and it started to hail the size of
grapes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We called the mission office and they
told us that there were tornadoes that were coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So there were the four of us hiding in the apartment from the
tornadoes!!!!!!!! Then the spanish Sisters called us because we were
supposed to go and teach a lesson with them and we told them we had to
hide from the tornadoes!!!!!!!!!!! They told us to meet them at this
members house because we were going to have the lesson
there!!!!!!!!!!! So we went over to the members house and it ended up
being a surprise birthday party for me with all the missionaries in
the zone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a lot of fun and I loved
it!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a party while the storm was going on and we
were safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then that night we had dinner with the
Starks which was really good!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then on wednesday I went on
exchanges with the Dallas 6th ward missionaries and it was cool to be
able to spend the day down there!!!!!!!!!!! We got to teach a lesson
to this girl that used to live in Newport Beach so it was fun to be
able to talk to someone about newport!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is getting
baptized the beginning of next month and the Dallas 6th missionaries
talk about her all the time so it was good to finally meet
her!!!!!!!!!!! Then on thursday we planned for the day and then we had
a lesson with marcus after lunch and it was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He
is doing great, he was at church on Sunday and it was really nice to
see him there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we had dinner with
the Aguilar family which was really good!!!!!!!!!!! Their conversion
story is in the February Ensign!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then at night time we got
to go over to the Hospital in Carrollton to give this girl a
blessing!!!!!!!!!! Her and her mom were there!!!!!!!!! They live in
Rockwall but she had a soccer game in Farmers Branch which is why they
went to the hospital in Carrollton!!!!!!!!!!!!! She got a
concussion!!!!!!!!!!! On friday we got to help at the Bishops
Storehouse in the morning which was great!!!!!!!!!!! I always love
doing service there!!!!!!!!!! Then we met with Brother Karlovich in
the afternoon and he is doing much better!!!!!!!!!! Last time we met
with him he told us that he didnt want to be a member anymore but we
told him to pray about it and when we met with him on friday he said
he still wants to be a member of the church!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so cool
how Heavenly Father answers our prayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All we
need to do is ask and he is more than happy to answer
us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saturday we had a really good day of trying to
find people to teach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to talk to a lot of
people all day which was really good!!!!!!!!!! Then we had a lesson
with Emilyn in the afternoon which was really great!!!!!!!!! We got to
read from Luke 22-24 and talk all about Easter and then that night we
went to the Easter Cantata that the Carrollton stake was
having!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Jesus Christ so much and Im so thankful for
the opportunity that we got to celebrate his resurrection
yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a great day at church and the wards
had really good easter programs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love being a
missionary!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is just so great to be constantly serving
everyone around me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope that you all have
awesome weeks and see many miracles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I

April 2, 2012- One Day Before Elder Cody Tuma turns 20 years old.Well this week has been a great and interesting event filled week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elder Nunez serving in the Spanish branch got a new missionary this week so we have another missionary in the district which is a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tuesday was a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to do some tracting and then we had two dinners which was definitely filling!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then at night time we stopped by some referrals and went tracting in an apartment complex which was really great!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to hand out a book of mormon to this one guy who seemed really interested!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are going to try and stop by again this week!!!!!!!!!! Wednesday was an interesting day!!!!!!!!!!! We had diestrict meeting in the morning, it was my first time conducting a district meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it went well!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then during district meeting we found out that we are getting a car for a little bit!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sunbeck elders have a car but Elder Nunez's papers from the DMV never got sent in so he cant drive until they get sent in!!!!!!!!!!!! So we are getting the car until the papers get sent in!!!!!!!!!!! It was great to hear that we get a car for a little bit especially since the weather is warming up!!!!!!!!!! We still go on our bikes sometimes because after being in the car for a day i kind of missed riding on a bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On thursday we got to have a really good day!!!!!!!!!!!! We planned in the morning and then in the afternoon we had an appointment with Marcus!!!!!!!! He is doing great!!!!!!!!! We read Luke 22-24 with him!!!!!!!! I am so excited for easter!!!!!!!!!!! I love reading the New Testament!!!!!!!! It just makes me so grateful for the sacrament and for Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!! He really is our savior and its great to know that we are NEVER alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we got a call from the Dallas 1/Dallas 9 missionaries and they told me some great news!!!!!!!!!!!!! A couple weeks ago I gave them the Tiernans (my moms really good friend) address!!!!!!!!!! They live in Highland Park!!!!!!!!!!! They were going to stop by and see them on friday night but instead Mrs Tiernan ran into them on the street!!!!!!!!!!! She talked to them for a little bit and asked them if they knew me and she invited them over for dinner for tonight!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for them!!!!!!!!! They are going to have a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then that night we got to have dinner at the Malms and teach Sister Malm the plan of salvation!!!!!!!!!!! She is doing great and she is so excited for her baptism which is coming up!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the gospel and the Spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!! She said that the plan of salvation made sense to her and she knows that this is the true church!!!!!!!!! We even got a dutch book of mormon for her last week from Sister Penniston in the mission office and I was really excited to give it to her!!!!!!!!!! She really loved it!!!!!!!!!!! Then on friday we did some tracting in the morning and we ran into this guy who is not a member of the church anymore but he was really nice to us and he invited us inside and talked to us for a little bit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we had lunch with the Puentes family!!!!!!!!!! I love them!!!!!!!!!!! They just came to the Carrollton second ward from the sunbeck spanish branch so we are helping them adjust to the difference!!!!!!!!!!! Hermano Puentes is not a member and he invited us over for family home evening next monday to talk about Prophets which im really excited for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On saturday we had general conference which was so mega awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved every minute of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This conference was a great conference!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so thankful for Joseph Smith and everything that he did for us!!!!!!!!!!! I love him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are meeting with Gaby again this week, Im excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
